I have lived in Hilliard for over 24 years and served the last 7 years on the Hilliard City Council. Previously, I served 12 years on the Hilliard City School's Board of Education. I love this community and will continue to do what is best for it.
I have been married to my wife, Phyllis, for 35 years and I have three children who attended Hilliard Schools; Rachel, 28, Dan and Sarah, who are both 25. They are all out on their own now and we are blessed that they are thriving, so we are proud empty nesters.
I inherited my love for public service from my parents. They both served and held public office in Central Ohio at the state, county, and city levels. My parents were lifelong Republicans and I previously ran for City Countil as a Republican. I am running as a Democrat this time and I have changed parties because the Democratic party is more aligned with the values and issues that are most important to me. I am a great supporter and advocate for public schools and the Republican party's push for vouchers and charter schools does not support public schools. I have always supported Women's reproductive rights, and am in favor of greater protections and support for the LGBTQ+ community. I also support reasonable gun laws; it is beyond disappointing that our government can't do more to protect us from the mass shootings that occur with way too much frequency.
